Multiband Stellar-origin black holes in LISA and LVK

The first gravitational wave(GW) detection, GW150914, had 'parent' black holes with masses that were much more massive than previously electromagnetically detected stellar origin binary black holes(sBHB). This event showed, sBHBs are large enough that they are a new source for the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA). Of these sBHBs detectable by LISA, we are primarily interested in sBHBs that will be seen by both LIGO/VIRGO/KAGRA(LVK) and LISA. These type of binaries are called multiband binaries.

Within this paper we ask: how many multiband sbhbs will LISA observe in a 4 to 10 year mission?.

Finding the Intermediate-Mass Black Holes in LIGO

Intermediate mass black holes(IMBH) fall right in the middle between stellar-origin black holes and supermassive black holes(like the one at center of our Milky Way). Though a lot of uncertainty surrounds IMBHs, they provide insight into formation channels of supermassive black holes.

The question we asked was: How many IMBHs did LIGO-Virgo see during its third observing run?.
